Transtel/Bci Partnership Receives 2011 Avonni Innovation Awards

President Sebastián Piñera was present at the ceremony on TVN (National TV) where Transtel and Bci received an award for the best Information Technology and Communication (ITC) innovation project of the year. The 2011 Avonni Awards were given to top innovation entrepreneurship projects, in 10 categories.

Transtel and Bci won the first prize for a project called “RedelCom.”  This is the first open business network in the country offering non-Correspondent Banking services. RedelCom is for established small and medium-sized businesses, since it allows them to use a technology platform that offers final customers greater services and credit, and in this way compete with larger businesses

Retail Bank Manager, Nicholas Diban, proudly accepted the Bci award, expressing that “customer experience and  innovation are part of our DNA. I see two attributes in this award. To begin with, it is an example of working in a team with one of our providers, and the second is that it makes me happy that this product helps our country to develop.”

Also, Nova’s Bci Manager, Luis Felipe Hirane, stressed that this technology has the potential to reach the lower segments of society. “The innovation developed with our provider Transtel is more cost-effective for us to get to the customer, because it makes considerable use of our other clients like large corporations and partnerships.”

Everyone at Bci was very appreciative for this year’s award given by El Mercurio, Innovation Forum, and TVN, with the support of CORFO. “This award gives credit to the Bank’s innovation project,” said Innovation Manager Pablo Cousiño. “Other banks do not have partnerships. What’s important for us is to continue to encourage competitiveness, because to innovate means to win.”
